Blood test at week 4: Good news!!

Alright, ladies and gentlemen. Got my one month blood tests back, and the hookworms worked! They worked! And so quickly this time! I haven’t had a normal blood test in ages. I hold it to my chest and sigh. However, I have no idea how long the hookworms are going to last, and fear that they are dying as I type. I don’t have to put ** in because everything was normal! HEMOGLOBIN 11.8 (11.7-15.5 g/dL) (those iron shots are working)

CRP 0.8 (<0.8 mg/dL) (This is the lowest it’s been since month 4 after first infection, before the hookworms died.)

B12 584 (200-1100 pg/mL) (This dropped significantly: from 888 to 584. Hmmmmm.)

FOLATES , serum 10.3 (normal: >5.4)

IRON 64 (40-175 mcg/dL) (Note: this went from 43 before hookworms to 64. I took no iron shots or supplements this month…)

TIBC 301 (250-450 mcg/dL)

TRANSFERRIN SATURATION 21 (15-50%) (This improved from 14% to 21%)

FERRITIN 30 (10-154 ng/mL) (This fell from 50 to 30, showing that hookworms lower ferritin, but not iron. I am still going for one more round of iron shots to hopefully boost my levels to a more middle normal. I might feel energy again longterm!)
